Registration is open for Richmond Music Festival

Richmond Music Festival opened the registration for 2017. The festival will take place in November – date TBD. The festival is open to amateur musicians in the many disciplines including Classical Guitar. VCGS supports Richmond Music Festival by providing the scholarships in Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories. The deadline for the registration is September 1, so it is time to make up your mind if you would like to participate. You can register for the Festival here.

VCGS is holding an annual picnic for members on Saturday, August 26, at Miniature Railway Station Picnic Site No 1 at Stanley Park, from 4 to 8 pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet up with you guitarist friends in an informal setting as well as get to know other guitarists in your community. Come play for one another and soak in the ultimate beauty of Vancouver’s Stanley Park. Children can enjoy the Miniature Train and other kinds of outdoor activities.

Bring your culinary and musical delicacies and enjoy what others have to share!

Wilson Center Guitar Festival

Applications are now open for the 2017 Wilson Center Guitar Festival taking place August 17-19 in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Featuring four separate competitions—Classical, Fingerstyle, Jazz, and Rock & Blues—the Wilson Center Guitar Festival is open to competitors of all ages. Thanks to the generosity of Competition Prize Money Sponsors Mark & Sharon Cameli in memory of John Cameli, the fifth annual competition will feature increased prize money totaling $32,000, and all first-place winners will have a chance to open for guitar legend and Festival headliner Kevin Eubanks on August 19. Featuring world-class ticketed headliner concerts, including CandyRat Records Fingerstyle Friday with Mike Dawes, Gareth Pearson, and Antoine Dufour; live semi-final and final competition rounds; master classes; and leading industry vendors—join in a celebration of the greatest guitarists of today & tomorrow! Apply by May 31 at wcguitarfest.com.
