Exciting young classical guitar duo a meeting of musical minds, CC Duo, Apr. 27th

Classical Guitar Magazine calls Adam Cicchilllitti “superb” and Steve Cowan a “top contemporary classical guitarist.”  Together, they are the CC Duo, a thrilling, young Canadian partnership racking up the honors including the prestigious GFA International Ensemble Competition.  The Vancouver Classic Guitar Society and Müzewest Concerts are delighted to present the Cicchillitti-Cowan Duo with a lyrical program of new music and 20th century impressionists at the Vancouver Academy of Music, April 27th at 7:30 pm.  In person or livestream tickets at www.muzewest.org or www.vancouverguitar.org

There is such a connection between Steve and Adam that their guitar partnership seems meant to be.  Steve literally bumped into Adam at the University of Ottawa and before long they were playing together.  They are almost exactly the same age – born just two days apart, both are bilingual Montrealers, love cats, hold a doctorate, are university guitar instructors and virtuoso guitarists.

Adam and Steve began touring in 2018 and in that short time have set a benchmark in the world of classical guitar with their award-winning recordings, commissions of major new orchestral works, and competition performances.  They are already one of the world’s most decorated guitar duos of the new generation. And individually, they each have shelves full of awards, many of which are firsts.

You could also call this duo a meeting of the minds.  Adam describes playing with Steve as, “like we’re mind-reading.  I find myself constantly agreeing with how Steve sees art and sound.”  Steve says their strong rapport is based on similar taste and tremendous trust.

Their Vancouver program is unique.  Adam says no one else is playing this mixture of new music and the duo’s own arrangements of piano music by Evward Grieg and Maurice Ravel.  “They’re all pieces we really love.”

The two long-time friends love what they do and it shows.  Steve says they’ve been known to laugh on stage while playing just because they are having so much fun.  Adam adds,” I chose to be a musician so I could have fun in my life.”   And it doesn’t get much more fun than this.

Don’t miss the CC Duo as they wrap up their BC tour on Saturday, April 27th, at 7:30 pm at Vancouver Academy of Music (Koerner Hall), 1270 Chestnut Street in Vancouver.  Tickets from $15 - $45 atwww.muzewest.orgorwww.vancouverguitar.org     For more information, contactpublicity@vancouverguitar.org
